Memphis Blues Pulled Pork with spaghetti squash


Un-believable.

Have you ever eaten so much meat that you feeling like you’re hallucinating? Some call it having “meat sweats” or a “meat high,” others know it simply as a food coma. Check all of the above, because you’re in for a long evening of lying down and blissfully patting your belly after this meal.

Memphis Blues Barbeque House is a special place for me, with two tiny locations tucked away in Vancouver, and several more across the Prairies. It’s as close to jaw-dropping-amazing Southern BBQ as most of us can get up here without hopping on a plane. Everything from their ribs and fries to pulled pork and cornbread are crazy delicious. Roasted Chicken with Smoked Paprika


Guess what? The low-carb diet my boyfriend and I were trying is essentially out the window. It was bound to happen, but we still made some seemingly permanent changes. Back to normal! And back to flavour. What better way to celebrate the special occasion of Diet-Quitting than to indulge in a “no-no” meal of carbs? Carrots and chickpeas: yes please.

Herb-roasted fall vegetables


Nice and toasty.

There are few things better than cozying up on the couch, putting a movie on, and eating a warm plate of roasted veg until you pass out in a food coma.

Since the weather began to change from warm to cool I’ve begun making more and more trips to my neighbourhood vegetable market. It seems I cannot be helped when there is:
a) the new seasonal crop, or b) food that looks unblemished and perfect.
